THE LEARNING BRIDGE SEMIAHMOO BRANCH
The Learning Bridge is an online not-for-profit youth led mentorship service that provides free tutoring lessons to all K-12 students. Founded in March of 2020 on the core value of access to education, it strived to eradicate the education gap that persists due to varying access opportunities and resources. As of August 2020, TLB has provided free education support to over 110 students, and leadership/volunteer opportunities to 100+ youth throughout Canada. With the Semiahmoo & TLB collaboration, the mission is to facilitate a smooth transition for Semiahmoo students as they begin blended learning in the fall of 2020.
GOALS OF THE SEMIAHMOO BRANCH:
Foster an encouraging environment for incoming Semiahmoo grade 8 students to connect and collaborate with older peers for academic, and school specific guidance.
Provide leadership and volunteer opportunities for older Semiahmoo students who want to contribute to their school community while also abiding with the COVID-19 guidelines.
Create a network of connections within the school which “incentivizes” students to reach out to one another even beyond the scope of TLB lessons.
